The Department of Biomedical Engineering at Bucknell University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position to begin August 2019. The West Virginia University, Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, Fundamentals of Engineering Program (FEP) is seeking applications for a Teaching Assistant Professor. This nine-month, non-tenure track faculty rank position involves 80% teaching and 20% service. The teaching function involves classroom teaching of 6-8 sections of fundamental (freshman/sophomore level) engineering courses per academic year, curriculum assessment and development, and advising students. The service element of the position involves serving on faculty committees, serving as a liaison to other WVU units, and participating in planned student-related retention, recruitment, and outreach activities. 8. POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: Postdoctoral Fellow position available at University of Florida

The Department of Civil and Coastal Engineering at the University of Florida is seeking a full-time postdoctoral fellow to support interdisciplinary research in civil engineering workforce, human development and educational technology. The successful candidate will work in the Simmons Research Lab and help manage research activities related to three workforce development projects funded by the National Science Foundation. At a minimum, applicants should have 1) PhD in Civil Engineering, Construction, Engineering Education, STEM Education, Education, or a closely related social science field; 2) Expertise in quantitative, qualitative, and/or social science research; and 3) A record of peer-reviewed publications. Students must be able to effectively communicate with industry professionals especially those in the construction industry and transportation sector.

Eligibility: Various funding sources are available that would support either U.S. citizens or non-US citizens. The University of Florida has multiple assistantships available for PhD students interested in engineering education. The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering established the Institute for Excellence in Engineering Education in 2016 to bring together multiple activities already underway in engineering education. IE3 covers three primary areas: research, teaching of college-wide courses, and accreditation. There are currently multiple projects available for PhD students in areas such as engineering problem solving, worker competencies and training, and cultures of inclusion in the engineering workforce. 22. CALL FOR PhD FELLOWSHIP APPLICANTS: Data Analytics Within Digital Immersion Environments

Rowan University’s Experiential Engineering Education Department (ExEEd) is pleased to announce new Ph.D. fellowships in data analytics within digital immersion environments (with a particular emphasis on game-based learning environments), supported by the US Dept. of Education’s Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need program. These fellowships come with a very generous $34,000/year stipend, full tuition and fee waiver, as well as travel support to attend and present at technical conferences.

Students with i) Bachelors or Master’s degrees in engineering or a related discipline, ii) an interest in data analytics and iii) a desire to conduct cutting-edge research in a variety of disciplines that can benefit from data analytics, are encouraged to apply. 23. CALL FOR PARTICIPATION: 2019 Institute on Project-Based Learning

The 2019 Institute on Project-Based Learning (PBL), https://wp.wpi.edu/projectbasedlearning/2019-institute/, will be held June 18-21, 2019, at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) in Worcester, Massachusetts. Offered by WPI in partnership with the Association of American Colleges & Universities, the Institute draws on nearly 50 years of experience with project-based undergraduate engineering education.

This 2.5-day intensive workshop brings together teams of five or more faculty and administrators from colleges and universities to gain knowledge about project-based learning and make tangible progress to integrate PBL into their own curricula. The Institute includes a mix of interactive workshops, consultation with experts, and collaborative teamwork. Each team works with a dedicated faculty coach to develop a campus action plan. Participants come to the Institute with a specific goal or project they would like to advance and leave with an enhanced understanding of PBL and a tailored plan to advance work on their own campuses as well as materials and examples.
