1. ERM ANNOUNCEMENT: Brouhaha Tickets on Sale

Join us for the ASEE ERM Brouhaha—our annual social gathering where you can catch up with old friends and make new connections. Our Brouhaha will be on Tuesday, June 26th, 7-9pm at the Clark Planetarium. Located in downtown Salt Lake City near the Convention Center and next to the TRAX Planetarium stop, there will be plenty to see and do at the Clark Planetarium! Enjoy the ERM annual awards ceremony, meet this year’s Apprentice Faculty Grant awardees, and explore the Planetarium’s impressive meteorite collection. There will be a DJ playing music, and the dinner will be catered by one of Salt Lake City’s top caterers, LUX catering.

Tickets are $75 if purchased in advance, and $85 at the door. We would appreciate early registrations, so that we can provide the caterer with accurate attendance information. Please note any dietary restrictions/preferences during your online registration. We are looking forward to seeing you at this year’s Brouhaha!

The MIT Teaching and Learning Lab (T+LL) seeks an Assistant Director dedicated to the design, development and implementation of programs and workshops to support graduate students and postdocs in their growth as teachers. The successful candidate will help build capacity and broaden the reach of T+LL by launching a new graduate teaching assistant liaison program, and by supporting existing programs and services for graduate students on campus. 5. CALL FOR ASSOCIATE EDITOR NOMINATIONS: Journal of Engineering Education (JEE)
The Journal of Engineering Education, which serves to cultivate, disseminate, and archive scholarly research in engineering education, is currently accepting applications for one or more volunteer Associate Editors. Associate Editors are an integral part of the JEE Editorial Board and ensure the quality and timeliness of published material. Associate Editors serve 3-year terms that may be renewed. An Associate Editor’s primary responsibilities are (1) reading manuscripts submitted to JEE, (2) recruiting and selecting appropriate, well qualified and responsible reviewers to review the manuscripts, (3) synthesizing reviewers’ comments and feedback, (4) integrating that feedback with their own evaluative and constructive report reflecting the strengths and weaknesses of the manuscript, and (5) making a recommendation to the JEE Editor. Other duties include attending quarterly (virtual) meetings of the JEE Editorial Board, selecting the annual Wickenden award winner, and completing various tasks related to maintaining the quality and relevance of JEE such as special issues and guest editorials. Generally, an Associate Editor will be assigned 12-16 manuscripts annually, and the duties of the position will require approximately 8 – 12 hours per month. To qualify for the position, an Associate Editor must have an earned doctoral degree, be an active researcher in engineering education or a related field, and have experience publishing in the field of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education research. Preferred qualifications include previous experience as a peer reviewer of a scholarly journal, publication experience in peer-reviewed journals, and rank at the associate professor (or equivalent) level. In particular, Associate Editors with expertise in P-12 engineering education, learning sciences, and quantitative methods are sought, but all areas will be considered. 6. CALL FOR PAPERS: IMCL 2018 International Conference on Interactive Mobile Communication, Technologies and Learning

On October 11 and 12, 2018, the Faculty of Engineering at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada is hosting the 12th International Conference on Interactive Mobile Communication, Technologies and Learning. The conference will cover all aspects of mobile learning as well as the emergence of mobile communication technologies, infrastructures and services and their implications for education, business, governments and society. For this year, the focus is on “Mobile Technologies and Applications for the Internet of Things”.

The IMCL2018 conference aims to promote the development of mobile learning, to provide a forum for education and knowledge transfer, to expose students to latest ICT technologies and encourage the study and implementation of mobile applications in teaching and learning. 7. CALL FOR PARTICIPATION Workshop on Teaching for Post Docs and New Faculty

A workshop coming up at the University of Colorado Boulder in July may be of interest to post docs and new faculty. The Evidence-Based Introduction to Teaching (EBIT) is a one-week student-centered learning experience where participants develop curricula for STEM college classrooms using evidence-based teaching methods. Participants apply research principles of design, build, test and iterate to specific course curriculum development. Relevant literature on evidence-based teaching techniques will be highlighted.

8. CALL FOR PARTICIPATION: 2019 Research in Engineering Education Symposium
The University of Cape Town is pleased to invite you to the 2019 Research in Engineering Education Symposium. REES 2019 will be held in Cape Town, South Africa, from July 10-12, 2019.

REES is the biennial symposium of the Research in Engineering Education Network (REEN), an international community of scholars interested in conducting high quality work in, and advancing the field of, engineering education research. One of the goals of REEN is the development of meaningful collaboration between engineering education researchers working in different parts of the world. As such, we are pleased to announce that REEN is partnering with SASEE, the South African Society for Engineering Education, for a joint biennial conference in 2019.
