The Research in Engineering Education Network (REEN) Governing Board is currently seeking nominations for individuals interested in joining the board in 2018. We are seeking nominations for representatives from the following regions (1 representative per region): Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and South America. Each representative serves for four years (2018-2022), at which time they may seek re-election. The board is comprised of two representatives for each of North America, Europe, and Australia and one representative for each of Asia, Africa, and South America (subject to future change based on regional research activity). The main commitment is a 1 hour meeting (teleconference) once a month at a time determined by time zones of board members. Extra time may be required regarding symposium work (e.g., abstract and paper reviews).
Interested individuals must submit a candidate’s statement for an internal election to be held in December 2017. If interested in being a REEN governing board member from one of these regions, please send the following information as a single .docx or .doc file to Adam Carberry (adam.carberry@asu.edu) – 2018 REEN Governing Board Chair, by Friday, December 8th:
1. motivation statement (200 words) describing why you are interested in being on the REEN board and what experience, expertise, and contributions you will bring
2. CV (200 words; relevant career highlights ONLY)
3. photograph of yourself (for the REEN website if selected)
Note: You may also embed a URL in your motivation statement if there is additional information you would like to share.
Board members must be active in Engineering Education Research (EER) and it is strongly recommended, but not required, that applicants have previously participated in a REES conference. Please highlight your activities and accomplishments specific to EER in your submitted application. Announcements of results will be made in early/mid-January 2018. Please visit the REEN website to join our mailing list or LinkedIN Group and to obtain further information about REEN – https://www.reen.co/.

11. CALL FOR RESEARCH STUDY PARTICIPANTS: Graduate Student Experiences Survey: Survey on graduate student engineering identity and motivation in graduate engineering programs

Dear Colleagues,
We are conducting a National Science Foundation funded study (#1535254) on graduate student engineering identity and motivation in graduate programs. The survey is voluntary, confidential, accessible online, and will only take students about 15 minutes to complete.

We have selected a nationally representative sample of engineering graduate programs to participate in the survey and will be sending emails to graduate program directors inviting those programs to participate. If you receive an email, please help us by providing an email list of graduate engineering students. If you would like your program’s students to be included, please provide an email list of students here. Participating programs will receive aggregate information about their students’ responses.

For more information about the project, please visit our website here.

Thank you for your time,
Cheryl Cass, North Carolina State University
Adam Kirn, University of Nevada, Reno
