Dear ERM members,
I had a chance to take a break the past few days during February break. It was a good time to reflect over all the changes over the past year. I’m thankful to all of the people who have volunteered their time and energy for ERM (or who have offered, run for office, or indicated interest!)—there’s a lot going on behind the scenes with paper reviews, ongoing efforts with various committees, and trying to make this upcoming conference the best it can be with all of the financial challenges ASEE has faced. I know at times that the systems and other issues can be a big source of frustration. I appreciate the continued efforts and patience individuals have had with me and one another in this process. I have also had numerous friends and colleagues who have been supports and resources to me as I’ve navigated various decisions in my role as Chair and in my career. I’m grateful for y’all and this community.
All my best,
Allison

This workshop takes place in one 3-hour instructor-led session. Throughout the workshop, there will be multiple opportunities to ask questions, participate in breakout discussions, and share reflections with the facilitator and other participants.
How You Will Benefit
- You will learn about opportunities and challenges of synchronous and asynchronous hybrid learning environments for collaborative work.
- You will learn about a Structure-Climate (SC) approach.
- You will use a Structure-Climate (SC) approach to practice designing hybrid teamwork experiences relevant to individual educational needs.
- You will engage with a network of professionals outside of your university and discipline.
Intended Audience
This workshop is intended for educators, administrators, and staff for K-12, college, and university level institutions, as well as educational technology specialists, who want to better understand ways of effectively supporting hybrid learning environments.

- POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: Multiple Open-Rank Lecturer Positions in the Georgia Institute of Technology Biomedical Engineering Department
The Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology and Emory University has openings for Lecturer positions. Our community of 1,200 undergraduates, 400 graduate students, and more than 150 faculty and staff make us one of the largest and most diverse BME programs in the country. We value and work to improve our educational programs as evidenced by the 2019 Bernard M. Gordon prize.
For this role, we are interested in candidates who contribute to the culture of instructional excellence and ongoing innovation primarily but not solely in our undergraduate program. We have specifically identified four areas of focus for these positions: (1) fluid mechanics, transport phenomena, and related biological mechanisms and biomedical applications; (2) introduction to human physiology, biological systems physiology, and organ function; (3) engineering design, especially medical devices, FDA regulation, and human-centered design; (4) engineering communication focused on storytelling to support individual development, leadership, and career progress. An extended job ad can be found here. That job ad contains example syllabi for each of the four areas, information about the department, and application instructions. Applications can be submitted here – please note that we are using an anonymous first round review of candidates and ask that candidates submit blinded documents as described in the extended ad.
