1. POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: Faculty Positions, Engineering and Science Education Research, Louisiana Tech University Integrated STEM Education Research Center (ISERC)

The Integrated STEM Education Research Center (ISERC) at Louisiana Tech University invites applications for top caliber researchers and teachers conducting engineering and science education research. All professional ranks (Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor), STEM disciplinary backgrounds, and research specialties, including discipline-based education research, will be considered. ISERC is committed to the development and study of innovative, multidisciplinary STEM education practices. ISERC is primarily housed in the College of Engineering and Science whose vision is to be a world leader in integrating engineering and science in education and research. The College is experiencing significant growth and is undertaking an aggressive faculty recruiting campaign. By the start of the appointment, applicants must have earned a doctorate in Engineering Education, a STEM discipline housed in the College, or a related field.

Successful candidates are expected to actively participate in ISERC research efforts; initiate, build and sustain an externally funded research program; and supervise graduate students. 2. POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: Tenure-track faculty position, Saint Vincent College

The Herbert W. Boyer School at Saint Vincent College invites applications for a tenure track professor position beginning in August 2018. The selected candidate will direct the engineering programs, including the Mathematics Engineering 3:2 program and the four-year Engineering Science program. The selected candidate will teach engineering courses, advise engineering majors, work with partner institutions on the Mathematics Engineering 3:2 program, and take a leadership role in developing materials and documents in preparation for entry into the ABET accreditation processes.

3. POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: Associate Dean of Students and Strategic Initiatives, Bucknell University
Reporting to Dean of the College of Engineering Pat Mather, the Associate Dean of Students and Strategic Initiatives will play a key role in helping to shape the future direction of the College. The College is engaged in an inclusive and transparent strategic planning process scheduled for completion in December 2017. With this plan in place, the Associate Dean will have the opportunity to work closely with the Dean, the Associate Dean for Faculty and Scholarship, the Council of Department Chairs, and the five standing governance committees on the idea generation and implementation phases of the plan, and will help bring innovative and exciting programs to life. The Associate Dean will also advocate for the continued excellence of the undergraduate engineering experience. Bucknell is currently distinguished by its remarkable level of attention to its students, and the Associate Dean will lead efforts to ensure that students are well-supported throughout the program as well as oversee a broad range of academic policy, academic advising, assessment, and curriculum development matters. 5. POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: Engineering Education Research Faculty Position, Full or Associate Professor, University of Michigan

The College of Engineering at the University of Michigan (UM) recently hired four tenured/tenure-track faculty members as part of an initiative to develop an engineering education research (EER) program. These four faculty are appointed in traditional engineering departments, but their scholarship is in EER. At present, UM is seeking a fifth, tenured EER faculty member at the Full or Associate Professor rank. (Individuals interested in positions as the Assistant Professor rank should apply directly to the relevant UM engineering department.)

The tenured EER faculty member hired through this search will be appointed in an engineering department and will provide leadership in the development of a brand new EER graduate program at the UM. The first cohort of students will enroll in the new graduate program in Fall 2018 (see https://eer.engin.umich.edu for more details). In addition to establishing a thriving research program in EER, which includes advising graduate and undergraduate students, this EER faculty member will teach in both his/her engineering discipline and in the EER graduate program, and he/she will provide service in support of both the engineering department and EER program.

Candidates should have either: (1) a Ph.D. in Engineering Education with a minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering, or (2) a Ph.D. in engineering or related STEM field and EER experience. Candidates should also have scholarship and publication records appropriate for appointment at the Full or Associate Professor rank with tenure. 12. CALL FOR CHAPTERS: The Literacies of Design: Studies of Equity and Imagination with Engineering and Making
We are calling for chapters that use original empirical (qualitative or quantitative) studies to offer insights, challenges, or extensions to current conceptions of literacies of design or design communication. We welcome studies conducted with different participants in different spaces: pre-K children in home settings, engineers in the workforce, children and adults in makerspaces and museums, undergraduate engineering students engaged in service learning, or K-12 students in NGSS-aligned science classrooms, to name a few. We also welcome empirically-grounded theoretical papers.
If you are interested in contributing a chapter, we request that a summary of around 750-1000 words be sent to Amy Wilson-Lopez, at amy.wilson-lopez@usu.edu, by October 31, 2017. Please also feel free to contact Amy if you have further questions about the nature or scope of the book.

13. CALL FOR PAPERS: ASEE 2018 ERM Division- abstract submission extended until 10/18

ERM seeks paper proposals on topics related to ERM’s primary objectives: dissemination of knowledge on learning and teaching; encouragement of efforts to improve instruction through development of innovative materials and techniques, sound instructional design, and improved evaluation methodology; and enhancement of the status of teaching in the university and beyond. There are four types of papers that will be considered: 1) Work in Progress (WIP), 2) Research, 3) Theory, and 4) Evidence-Based Practice

It is expected that the author(s) of a submission will support the Division by reviewing both abstracts and manuscripts submitted for the Annual Conference.
